Ceramic rheostats

The rheostats manufactured by Torivac have high heat dissipation and are manufactured from 12W up to a wide range of power ratings in assembled assemblies. These power ratings are applicable with good ventilation conditions. In installations where ventilation is poor, these power ratings should be reduced by up to 20% to avoid overheating.

The core is a ceramic ring of steatite or alumina of high hardness, anti-hygroscopic, thus avoiding corrosion effects by electrolysis. This ring is wound with top quality constantan, nicrom or kanthal wires, depending on the required ohmic value. If not specified in the order, the most suitable material for that value and power is used.

For protection against mechanical damage and to prevent movement of the coils due to expansion caused by heat, these potentiometers are coated with a very hard ceramic cement, manufactured in our laboratories, which withstands temperatures up to 900ºC, allows rapid heat dissipation due to its matte surface and good thermal conductivity.

The cursor contact is usually a silver or polished copper-silver brush.

In addition to linear coils, we can manufacture, upon request, windings with various sections to achieve a non-linear resistive curve.
