What is an Inverter for photovoltaic grid connection?
A photovoltaic grid-tie inverter is a device that converts the power generated by solar panels into usable electricity for consumption or injection into the electrical grid. Solar panels produce direct current (DC), but most electrical systems and appliances run on alternating current (AC), so the inverter is essential to adapt the power and make it compatible with the electrical infrastructure.
Torivac’s PV grid-tie inverter is an essential component for companies looking to integrate solar power into their daily operations. This device converts the direct current generated by solar panels into alternating current, allowing its direct use in industrial and commercial installations.
How does this device perform in a highly demanding power system?
In industrial, commercial or large infrastructure installations, where energy demand is high, the inverter works in real time adjusting the energy conversion according to the required consumption. It integrates a maximum power point tracking system (MPPT), which allows extracting the maximum performance from the solar panels under variable conditions such as changes in radiation or temperature.
When PV production exceeds consumption, the inverter can redirect surplus energy to the grid or store it in batteries, depending on the system installed. This is crucial in sectors that operate with high energy loads, as it helps reduce dependence on the conventional grid, lower costs and improve operational efficiency.
In addition, in critical systems such as hospitals, factories and data centers, the high-capacity inverter incorporates advanced protections against power surges or dips and power outages, ensuring that essential equipment continues to operate without interruption.
Benefits in controlling energy input and output
1. Reduction of energy costs
The inverter allows the energy generated by the solar panels to be consumed directly in the installations, reducing the purchase of electricity from the grid. This significantly reduces the electricity bill, especially in industries with high consumption, such as manufacturing and agribusiness. In addition, by taking advantage of a free source such as solar energy, the return on investment of the photovoltaic system is accelerated, allowing the initial cost to be amortized in less time.
2. Stability and reliability of power supply
Fluctuations in the grid can affect industrial production, causing outages or damage to sensitive equipment. Torivac’s inverter efficiently manages solar power conversion, stabilizing the voltage and ensuring a constant supply, even in conditions of low solar generation. This stability is key in sectors such as data centers, hospitals and automated production plants, where any variation in power can affect operation.
3.Compatibility with energy monitoring and management systems.
Torivac’s inverter is compatible with real-time monitoring platforms, allowing companies to control production and energy consumption from any location. This is essential for industries with multiple plants or large production areas, as it allows for monitoring power surges and dips.

We use the most advanced power conversion technology. The input stage, equipped with high-efficiency POWER-MOS transistors, converts direct current into high-frequency alternating current, modulated in a sinusoidal manner that closely follows the mains voltage. The isolated power transfer is done through a isolating transformer, which, operating at high frequency, has a higher efficiency than the transformers operating at mains frequency, with a much smaller weight and dimensions
. At the output an IGBT bridge restores the 50Hz frequency, with synchronized switching with the mains.
All inverter functions are controlled by a state-of-the-art flash MICROPROCESSOR. This includes precise tracking of the maximum power point of the PV field. Parameters such as field voltage-current curve, grid voltage and delivered power are constantly measured, readjusting the operating point every few seconds to achieve maximum energy utilization. Grid voltage and frequency are monitored every millisecond, in order to ensure an immediate disconnection of the inverter in case of deviation from the authorized range, or island operation, according to RD 1663/2000.
The fact of being equipped with program flash memory allows to easily make a modification of parameters (if necessary, without removing the unit from the installation) to adapt it to future changes in regulations or specific conditions of the customer.
